Any tips on pulling a manual transmission car into a garage on an incline?

I just switched over to manual and it is the first time driving one. I've had it for about a week now and I'm fine driving it but I am having the hardest time pulling it into my garage which has a pretty steep inclined driveway. I either keep stalling it or over rev and panic because I dont want to pull in so fast that I can't avoid hitting my mirrors. Any suggestions? I'm just not getting any better with it.

  1. practice makes perfect.
  2. starting on incline is rather difficult... one if you can get a rolling start before the incline that is best... because then you just have to give it a little gas to get it going up... second to start on incline.. pull the hand brake and hold and release the cluch and press gas a little untill you feel resistance and car is trying to move foreward... then release the hand brake and release the clutch some more.. if car is almost stalling just give it a little more gas.. get a feel for how much gas you need to press and how high the car revs up so you don't overrev and spin wheels. Also, you don't have to release the clutch all the way to get the car to drive... you can release clutch about half way... and rev the engine... the car will still move foreward but not as fast as the clutch is not engaged 100%... if you do this too many times the clutch may wear out before its time...
  3. drop the clutch and let the tires spin u up lol na man just take your time keep in first if u have 4 speed and it dont want to go eas the pedle to the floor soon as u get close to the top start easing of the gas and get to break when u get in the garage.
  4. All your starting on an incline problems will be resolved once you grab that hand brake and just hold it as you start to accelerate - you'll feel the car start to pull, as you do gently release the hand brake and voila! No one is ever the best at anything the first few times they try, just stick with it and stay positive.
  5. Stay in low gear and go slow. Also you might try parking elsewhere for a while until you get used to driving a stick shift.
