- Yes, it should strive to be as objective as possible, but no, it is impossible to be completely independent of partisan politics.
- The new media should definitely be objective and independent of partisan politics. They should simply state the facts and let the public decide for themselves how to interpret and/or what to do with the information that they impart. This would work if we lived in an intelligent society. Unfortunately, people can be gullible and there are those in our society who prey on the ignorance that exists in our world. I think that there are many honest news people but there are also those who would say and do anything for their own gain. Also, being human, news people have their own opinions and I am sure that it is not easy for them to put their personal convictions aside in the interest of fairness when reporting on a subject that is near and dear to their hearts. I guess it is possible for the news media to be objective but the better question would be is it probable?
