Besides pulling the weed out, how else can you get rid of poison ivy?

We had some trees behind our house cut down because they were draped with poison ivy. Besides pulling out the weeds themselves, how else can you get rid of poison ivy and prevent it from growing back?

1. DD214, Roundup, or Any weed irradicator that is of commercial strength!
2. Round-up makes a special poision ivy killer. At my house it took 3 treatments, but worked. We had a ton of the weed all around our house, up the trees, and in flowerbeds.
3. Smother it: - Cut it to the ground - Soak cardboard in water - Put over Poison Ivy -Cons - May take entire season or more than 1x to get rid of it Either way you go it may take more than 1x to get rid of it since it is a tough plant
4. I sprayed Ortho Brush-B-Gone on it as high up as I could spray. It took 3 to 4 weeks but it looks like it is dead.
