How do you know that you are pulling the handle correctly on a fire alarm in a fire?

In a fire how do you make sure you have a good grip on the handle and that it will lock into place? Is there something you feel when the handle has been pulled? If your hand is sweaty how do you make it so it won't slip when pulling the handle down? If your hand slips can you pull the handle again?

1. No you can only use a fire alarm once and if you use it incorrectly you failed.
2. I'm pretty sure that when they created these types of fire alarms they took into account that people would probably be under high stress. Therefore- it should be pretty self explanatory. Actually, I think the directions are written on most... "PULL."
