How would you describe the most modern tugboat?
This community gave me a good summation of Tugboat History. I have read about GE developing a hybrid Tug. Now I would like to know what is the latest and greatest to date. It is comforting to read about industries from the 19th century that are still going strong. I love Rail Roads for the same reason. I associate this country with the development of industry in that century, but I also like to see how our industries have evolved and changed.

- Modern tugs take advantage of latest technology like computer control of engines, GPS, joy-stick steering and such. The greatest difference is they don't have propellers on shafts. Instead they have thrusters which look like a fan in a shroud mounted below the hull. These thrusters rotate 360 degrees to give unmatched maneuverability. The tug can actualy rotate around it's center axis.
- Virginia, go to the URL shown below and read about the tug Morgan Foss. Regards, Dan
