How can I stop my puppy pulling on my pants constantly?

My 15 week old bichon constantly pulls on my pants. I've tried water in a spray bottle or laying her on her back for time out, but she still comes at my pants and pulls. When I try to stop her she starts mouthing and snapping. At inappropriate times (when I'm preparing breakfast, lunch or dinner) she wants to play and when I don't she starts pulling to get attention. She seems to be getting worse by the day.

  2. Think of a 15 week old dog like a 6 month old child. They want attention. I'd suggest getting a Kong Ball and putting a puppy biscuit in it. That should keep the little guy busy. Also, when the dog does that, gently put your hand around its muzzle and speak in soothing tones to the dog. Dams do this to their puppies to let them know who's boss and to calm them. My Lab is 19 months now and I still do that once and a while. It's a trick my trainer taught me. Have fun. Nice to know there's someone who wants to be your friend - all the time.
  3. When she does in a firm voice tell her to stop and lock her i her cage or whatever she has... schedule a play time with her and play with her only then. She will soon understand you have a playtime and it inapropriate to play then.
  4. My pug puppy has done this ever since we got him at 2 months of age. He is now 7 months old and STILL does it. It is so annoying and occassionally he will get part of my skin on my feet with his teeth while tugging and it really hurts! I've tried whacking his lil butt with a rolled up newspaper but it doesnt work. Sometimes if I just say "NO!!" really loud and thump him on the head/nose he will stop then rare back and bark at me and I will just say "NO!" and point my finger at him and he will bark at me again. After a few "NO!" s and lots of finger shaking he SOMETIMES will stop. I hope you get him to stop. What you can do is roll up your pants to about your knees, he won't have anything to tug on then. Works for me.
  5. Your dog must be a male. Guys are always trying to pull down girls pants.
  6. Put pennies in a pop can and seal it. Every time she does it, shake the can loudly, while saying a firm "No!" It will startle her into stopping. Then praise, praise, praise. Be consistent.
  7. She's trying to get your attention. My rabbit is like this. Ignore her at first, then push her away with your foot, but gently. Do not look at her or speak to her. If she comes back say "No" firmly then place her where she can not get to you. Using a child gate works best so she can see you but does not have access. After she is good for a minute (or few seconds) give her praise and attention for a short time. Then go back to what you were doing. Eventually she will learn that doing bad things does not get her attention. Just be consistent and patient.
  8. My puppy did that that age just egnore it ! it will stop when it gets old
  9. yelled at him and give him a hug
  10. get the dog whisperer to come to ur house.
  11. My 3 year old Bichon did this frequently when he was a pup and even now, he sometimes tries to get my attention this way. The best way I found to deal with it was to divert his attention. Most of the time he was bitting at me because he was restless and wanted to play. I would pull out some toys or give hime something to chew on like a raw hide (or Flossy, which are great for their smaller jaw size!). P.S. Don't lock her up in cage as one person suggested. If you are using a crate for training it should only be used as a positive tool, never as a punishment. We crate trained our little fluff ball and he adores his crate.
  12. put some cayane pepper in your spray bottle
  13. i had a vet that told me from the day the puppy's are born to six mouth old they teething. from six mount old to a year they trying out they they teeth. you say no and give them a crew toy and if they use it say good dog,
  14. sounds like someone is begging for attention to me - give the pup some toys and play with her - helping her to realize that you are not in your routine then you are able to play even if just for brief period of time has figured out this is the way to get your attention when you are obviously not paying attention otherwise, at least in the puppys' view
  15. Try not wearing pants for a few days. If she pulls on your flesh then start worrying. Take it to training classes. Talk to a vet on the phone (so youdon't have to pay,and ask if he knows a dog trainer who can help you).
  16. wear shorts
  17. it may want to play with you.
  18. You need to give her some play time, if it's an innapropriate time, let her know. Scold her when she snaps, a tap on the nose or muzzle and a frim "no" will eventually teach her to know she's wrong. And much praise for when the dog is behaving good will tell her to do it more. Positive attention is much better than negative.
