Do you think local police should strive to enforce immigration laws during routine police work? I think police should strive to enforce immigration laws during routine police work. Regardless of your position on the future of legal immigration in this country, state and local police will need to aid in enforcing these laws if they are ever going to have any meaning. It doesn't matter if you think there should be a huge guest worker program or no guest worker program. It also doesn't matter if you think the illegal immigrants here now should have amnesty or be forced to return to their country of origin. Whatever you think immigration laws should be, I would presume you think they should be enforced and breaking them should have consequences. And to enforce them effectively, the police will have to participate. This is a big country. It would take hundreds of thousands of federal immigration officers to police the whole country. That would cost too much and be too intrusive. Instead, let's just let local law enforcement officers check immigration status as part of routine police work. They are already out there every day in big numbers across the entire country. If a police officer stops you for speeding and sees you have illegal drugs in the car, that officer will charge you for the drugs as well as the speeding. If that same officer on that same stop finds you are here illegally, why should you not be charged for that too?
Is it better to strive for peace or happiness ? How many people strive in this world to be happy , to the cost of all else is it most ? How many are striving for peace ? I often think the palestinians are striving to be happy and won;t be until they get what they want but who in the middle east is striving for peace ?
Theists, do you have the guts to proclaim you strive to be a fundamentalist of your religion? Fundamentalist: Strictly following the fundamentals of a religion. If the fundamentals of your religion is so bad that you fear/despise the fundamentalists of your religion, why stick to it in the first place? I admit I strive to be a Muslim fundamentalist, and it people have the problem with that, I'd ask them exactly what is wrong with the five fundamentals of Islam; Belief in God and His Rasul (Sm), Prayers, Charity, Fasting and the Holy Pilgrimage. I'm of the opinion people confuse fundamentalists with radicals or deviants.
How many people strive to write their own book? More specifically, their own fantasy/sci-fi book. I am currently in the Networking field but am thinking about making a career change and becoming an English Professor and possibly following my dream of writing Fantasy. I am curious as to see how many other people have similar ambitions or if anyone can link to some statistics stating the amount of people that are striving to A) Become English Professors AND/OR B) How many "new" or prospective fantasy writers are out there. Also, this may need to be placed as a separate question, but does this sound like a logical career change?
Why do people who strive to do good always have it worse of shit life? I have helped many people, done many good things in life and keep telling myself it will get better but it never ends up getting better. Sometimes i break down for days other times i wish i would of killed myself a long time ago. Being good in my opinion after all these years has lead me to no promotion, girls, and just more hard work. My question is why do good people in life get it hard.
How do you "strive to develop" patience? I was working on something, and my instructions are to ask my mother what some important attributes are that a mother needs. I'm then supposed to strive to develop one of them for two weeks. My mom said "patience and discipline", but I wasn't sure what she meant by "discipline" so how do you strive to develop patience???
Christians can you show me in scripture where Jesus tell us to STRIVE? This strive thing is something I have heard from a lot of Christians, but I have yet to have one point out in scripture where Jesus tells us to strive, or to struggle to be like him. The way I see it, if Jesus didn't strive through life, why in the hell should I have to strive in life?
Can anyone help me strive to a lifelong goal that I have? I'd like to build a golf course for charity in my lifetime. Land isn't an issue. Money may be a slight problem, but I'm writing a book to help fund this course. We can hold charity golf outings, charity tournaments, and do many more great things for people in the community. Advice may be the best help. Thanks for the responses everyone!
How can I stop my strive for perfection? I am always striving to do my best but I have a horrible problem with any small flaw or mistake. I am always worrying about not doing great or getting an A in school. It seems like I can never move past a flaw. What are your suggestions in stopping my "need" for perfection? It's really starting to stress me out.
What are some ideals to strive for in regards to the institionalization of the homeless? What can be done to improve on whatever efforts already exist in regards to the institutionalization of the homeless? Institutionalization of the homeless means relief services, getting them off drug, intoxication and other unhealthy habits. They would also need training if that is possible. I am asking this on the philosophy group so that we can go over theories. From theories we can possibly chalk out better plans for the homeless. See my main page for information about what I am into. Click on Amanitvam. Thanks! Thanks for the testimonials! You are all welcome to email me at sprouts4u@yahoo.com I will do what I can to be of assistance. ys C dasa Regarding the homeless my idea was this. Set up vegetarian foodrelief for the homeless. Establish counseling and social services for the homeless. Somehow the homeless need to be kept off of drug/intoxication abuse, other addictions, learn normal habits of hygiene and proper behavior, and possibly get job training.
Is it worth it to strive for perfection? I have noticed in my not-so-numerous years, that the better you get at something, the more you notice that there's so much more about it that you need to work on. So is it worth it? To rip something down into its smallest parts and try to get each one of them as perfect as you can get them? Is it worth it to spend hours and hours on something to make it as beautiful or powerful as you can? Is it worth it to practice every aspect of something, only to realize that no matter how much you work you can never get every part of it right? If you try, will you be appreciated? Should you even try?
How many languages do you think one should strive to learn? Other than your maternal language, how many other languages do you think is a good number to learn? One? Two? Four? Seven? How many languages do you think is possible to learn in a lifetime - with the caveat of learning each language really well? Lastly, what languages do you think are good to learn? I already speak English - I was thinking next might be French or Spanish. Then, maybe Mandarin Chinese.
Do you constantly strive to be a better parent and a better spouse? What things do you think you need to work on? What things do you think you handle pretty well? Do you ever ask your partner if there is anything you can do to help them be a better parent? Do they ask you? How old are you? How old is your partner (if you have one)? How old are your children?
What college should I strive to get into? I'm looking to study medical in college. I want to be an anesthesiologist, and I would like to enroll in a university or medical school with a great program. So, any suggestions on where I should enroll in?
How should we define human nature when considering the kind of society towards which we can reasonably strive? I approach this question as a devoted anarchist. I agree with you that clearly the anarchist dream is utopian. However, these are my political views and you will not change my mind on that. In reality an anarchist must have faith that "people are not inherently bad", that there is not a socially fatal genetic characteristic that drives people inevitably to commit violence on others. Therefore so-called "human nature", in the anarchist view, is not the problem. So what is your view on human nature then?
What is it that humanity should ultimately strive to accomplish before we are finished? A question was posed "how will the human race survive the next 100 years". Well honestly whether it is 100, or 1000, or 1 million years, sooner or later it will end for us, so what should be the goal for humanity to accomplish before the end happens, regardless of when? Without an "end-game" in mind, I fail to see the significance, beyond our own creature comfort, in determining when the end will be.
How do you strive to stay positive in life? how do you face defeats, fight anger and sadness, and stay happy? Personally I try to see each day as a new chance, a new opportunity to create something new. How about you?

I don't want the next 2 years working, but I do want to save a significant amount of money. THANKS!
How to strive for your best and not care what people think? I started a new job about a year ago and some people can be really negative. How do I deal with these people and not care if there talking behind my back. I feel no matter how hard I try I will never be good enough for some people. Any advice on how not to be so sensitive to peoples words.
How do we strive to understand so much, when our minds cant possibly grasp ...? ...The complications that are beyond us. Do you understand my question? We are sent to school and are given teachings from our parents, but for some there is a constant yearning to learn something that there mind cant begin to grasp. They continue to fail and do not admit defeat. Is there possibility that this person will learn the subject or not? One day maybe, but for the time being, if your mind cannot comprehend a certain matter, will you continue to listen to the words that you do not understand at all?
Why do girls strive to have long fingernails? I think long fingernails look amazing on girls. I was just wondeing why some many girls try to grow long fingernails or spend money on having fake nails put on? Is it for the guys or themself? Is it hard to mantain?
How can I strive to get better grades? I am a freshman in high school. I am like a B/C average student. I really want to get my grades up to at least an A though. I try to study a lot but I can never understand the material. What can I do to get better grades before the school year ends? :D
Why do the vast majority strive for mediocricy? In every job I've had, the majority of my co-workers do a half-beep job. I am a nursing student and take my profession very seriously. I have people's lives in my hands. And, I always try to put my feet in my patient's shoes. I do it for my patients and honestly its having integrity. So why do you think people in all careers whether it be a construction worker or a doctor strive for mediocricy? I have my own answer I'm curious to what you guys will say.
Is it more common for children of successful minorities to fail or strive? As in, do children identify more with parental success or do they tend to have feelings of powerlessness or feelings of being oppressed? I ask this because children of greats like Bill Cosby, Martin Luther King, seemed to not live up to their parents success...just a few examples. I am asking specifically for minorities.

Do you strive to be Christ like with good manners ? St. Mark 2:17 They that are whole have no need of the physician, but they that are sick: I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. St. Luke 15:7 I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, which need no repentance. How do you treat your patients. How do you gather.
Why do i strive to lead others? Idk why but for some reason i feel that i have to be the best. I feel that i must be better at things than other people and that i must lead them. I hate this and i want it to go away. I also feel that i must please others all the time. I always have to do dumb things that nobody else would do simply because nobody else will do them. Why is this?
How do I strive in work without hurting my co-worker? I just started a new job and at first, a lot of people were mean to me, none of them would bother to sit down and help me with training. I have a learning disability which cause people to think that I am not that intelligent. However, one co-worker was kind enough to really sit down with me and show me how things work. Now that I’m fully trained in my position, I strive to be the best. And I ALWAYS end up on the executive’s list of people to promote. I want to take the co-worker with me to the top but I don’t think she is up for such challenge. She is a single mother who is settled in her job and don’t have the time to burn the midnight oil. I only been at my position for about a month and have already figured out a way to speed up production and cut operating time by nearly 50%. I will be presenting this to one of the executive’s at the end of the month. My only problem is that I do not want to out-shine the co-worker who have investing time in me. What shoud I do?
Does feminism strive to make women more independent? Or just independent of men? "Why do people seem to think it's wrong for a woman to be strong, self-sufficient and independent? Do they want someone who is helpless, whiny, unwilling to work and has to be validated every second off the day?" Well, your first problem is that you inferred all of the above when I said nothing of the sort. Being an independent person and being independent of men are separate notions.
Is Liverpool FC the club that others in English Football strive to be? Think about it before you go crazy. @ Kate: I'm not talking about just this season. I'm speaking on history. @ tOuz: Anything for you: Is Liverpool FC the club that others in English Football unsuccessfully strive to be? @ chig: You're right, they have taken a decade off the Premier League, but they wanted to make it fair. And don't forget about Man U buying most of their Championships. (Oops, I shouldn't have said that)
should I allow my cuttings to strive to root indoors or out? I have clipped basil and inserted it into a mixture specifically for seed starting/cuttings. I'm not sure if it carries attributes of rooting compound, but it claims it should work for cuttings. Currently the cuttings are in separate containers outside, but I'm not sure if the summer heat would prompt the cuttings to seek nutrition more rapidly, i.e. root, or if it's best to provide a less harsh environment.
How do you feel about HR1645 STRIVE Act? How do you feel about the new immingration bill HR 1645 STRIVE Act that is pending passage? I wrote my congressmen and told them to vote NO. Why should we pay social security benefits to illegals and their families?
Why do we Always Strive for Perfection? I used to be excessively diligent. I noticed in others how unhappy perfectionists were. They were never happy with much as nothing ever really measures up to perfection. Our culture promotes not wasting your life, living up to your potential, etc. These people can often find themselves miserable as the pursuit is endless until their death. No one ever lives up to their standards and they often feel they cannot live up to their own standards Now, why do we still strive for perfection?
How can I get my grades 6-12 art students to strive for quality, not mediocrity in their projects? No matter what I've tried to help them, the majority of my students seem to do the least amount of work possible. They want to rush through things and don't seem to mind getting low grades. I've tried to be a good role model and show them the world of art through field trips, tapes, books etc, to no avail. I know I'm doing something right because some of the students have went on to study art and are working in professional artistic careers. I try to individualize projects to their interests and offer assistance to them after school until after five, three nights a week. I truly feel that I'm failing at my job because some of the students are unmotivated no matter what. I'm at the point I feel like I need to quit my job and give it up to someone who could be more successful. Art is a required elective at grades 6 - 8 and an optional elective at grades 9 - 12. I seem to get a lot of kids that choose art because it is the lesser of the evils or they can't sing or play an instrument.
What is the reasons Democrats seem to strive and relish bad news? Whenever I see a democrat on the news in front of a microphone he is basically stating every negative he can think of. Unemployment is up Homelesness is up Deficit is up We are losing the war I am not suggesting that he lies, but what is it that makes spewing negative views so fufilling after all most good parents would not raise their children that way I always try and look at the glass as half full, is being a democrat mean you must see the glass as half empty all the time. This is incredible instead of getting one democrat to point out some of ( their) positives all I get is a lot more negatives it illustrates my point.
